In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a wide range of clinics and healthcare services:
These are run by the practice nurse at both surgeries. Patients are invited for an annual review of their condition.
Lung function is monitored annually by pulmonary function testing performed by the practice nurse together with a review of the condition.
Patients with asthma should ensure that they attend to be reviewed when due by either the doctor of the practice nurse.
These are offered routinely to all women aged between 25 and 65 years of age on a three yearly basis. The practice nurses are trained to do these.
Child Health Surveillance
These are carried out by the Health Visitors who hold baby clinics at the Health Centre in Norton on various days. They also hold one at the Village Hall in Endon on a Monday between 13:00 and 15:00 on a fortnightly basis.
We hold a family planning clinic on a fortnightly basis at both surgeries; at Orchard Surgery on a Tuesday afternoon and at Endon Surgery on a Friday morning. Counselling and advice, however, are given on all aspects by all of the doctors. This includes the fitting of coils, injections, etc. This service is fully confidential.
This is provided by all of the doctors and nurses. This is a fully confidential service and the reception staff will make an urgent appointment if you require this. Emergency contraception is also available directly from the local pharmacies.
All of the doctors in the practice are able to provide maternity medical services. Along with the community midwife you will be monitored throughout your pregnancy. Clinics are held on at Orchard Surgery on Monday and Thursday mornings and at Endon Surgery on Tuesdays.
We carry out the following minor surgical procedures at both surgeries by appointment only. These include joint injections, removal of cysts, simple lumps, etc.
These are provided by the practice nurses. You need to fill in the travel questionnaire obtainable from reception (or download one from the above tab) and hand it in before the appointment so we can determine which vaccines are suitable to your needs. Only specific vaccines are available for travel on the NHS. All other travel vaccines are chargeable as a private service to our patients.
We now hold smoking cessation clinics at the Orchard Surgery on a Monday and Friday mornings, Please ask at reception if you wish to attend one of these clinics. You will then be contacted with an appointment to attend.
We are currently sending out letters to patients aged between 40 and 74 years of age offering a Lifestyle check up at the surgery. If you receive one of these letter please contact reception to book your appointment.
Patients who need blood tests may either book an appointment for at the surgery or attend one of the University of North Staffordshire Hospital’s outreach clinics.
Appointments are available at Orchard Surgery on Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons.
A walk-in outreach clinic is held on weekdays at Cobridge Community Health Centre. Details of the opening times can be found here
Details of other outreach clinics offering appointments can be found here
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travel Health Questionnaire
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please download this form, complete it and hand it into the surgery. You will need to contact the surgery within 1 week after handing in the form, to be advised what injections you will require and to make an appointment.
Travel Vaccination Questionnaire
Yellow Fever Vaccinations
Travelling to certain countries may mean that you may have to have a Yellow Fever Vaccination; this is not something that we provide at the surgery, but there are various local surgeries where you can make an appointment to have this vaccination carried out, and there will be a charge for this. They are as follows:
Baddeley Green Surgery, Baddeley Green, Tel: 01782 544466
Brook Medical Centre, Bradeley, Tel: 01782 838355
Birches Head Medical Centre, Birches Head, Tel: 01782 948998
Moorcroft Medical Centre, Hanley, Tel: 01782 202622
